Soooooo 2016 was different! This year has been difficult on many levels. We lost several iconic artists, and influencers, elected an “internet troll” as our next president and witnessed some pretty horrific acts of terror and mass casualties around the world and within our own borders. So yes, if you want to look on the dark side, this year sucked pretty bad! But that’s not what this post is about. This is about YOUR year in review and the types of questions you can ask yourself should you choose to spend some quality time over the next few days reflecting on how your year shaped up before you set SMART goals for 2017.
I’ve always been good at looking ahead and setting new goals. I’m an Aquarius. Aquarius is the sign of the future and the water bearer reflects the idealism of the new life the future promises. We are creative, visionaries and leaders…typically on to the next big idea before we dedicate time to implement the idea that came before it. So, you can imagine, I’ve never been good at sitting still to review and reflect on my successes and failures long enough to really learn from them and make relevant changes that will propel me further forward with better direction and stability. I’m working on it and it starts with this post!
Last night I sat down and answered these 10 questions to help me sort through this dynamic year of ups and downs. Some of my answers surprised me and others I could’ve predicted before the year started (some patterns are not so easy to break, baby steps). I encourage you to also take some time to reflect on where you’ve been, where you are going in the future and what direction you want to take to get there. Happy New Year!
