I survived 5 days without solid food and lived to tell about it: My Chef V Juice Cleanse Review

Today is my 5th and final day of my Chef V juice cleanse and I seriously can’t believe how good I feel. The first day was the most challenging because I didn’t take the pre-cleanse advice and instead ate chips, salsa and had 2 glasses of wine the night before (not advisable). The 2nd day I had a little headache (from not having caffeine) but was able to ignore it because I was slammed at the studio. By day 3 my energy was soaring pretty high! I was shocked. I honestly thought I would be a hangry lunatic by day 3 and cave in (proud pat on the back for that).

This cleanse is a powerful, detoxing trio of organic green juice (used to cleanse vital organs and rid harmful toxins from the body), a satisfying raw whole food protein shake (that tastes like a churro), and a flavorful soup packed with local, organic ingredients (that detoxify the body). Before this, the only cleanses I had attempted was the Suja 3-day juice cleanse (which I loved for the variety of juices, however I missed eating hot foods and therefore couldn’t make it through the full 3 days) and another DIY cleanse that was good, but was expensive and time consuming. This cleanse is a different story. It’s day 5 and I could honestly keep going. One of the best things about this cleanse is looking forward to the “organic SOUPer detox” each night. It’s a delicious, creamy soup made from ingredients like sweet potato, carrot, zucchini, onion, garlic, ginger, leek and several healthy spices. Even though it’s not solid food, there’s something about it being hot and creamy (ok, that sounds a little weird) that makes me enjoy it so much more than just another bottle of green juice.

Speaking of, the green juice in the cleanse is very good since it contains very little fruit or fruit juice, typically used to sweeten and make green drinks palatable, which dilutes the health benefits of the juice. The Chef V green juice is made with every nutritional green you can imagine plus a healthy dose of apple and apple juice. After reading the ingredients and before trying it I was worried, I thought to myself “oh boy, this is going to be rough.” I was wrong, the juice is great! In fact, after the cleanse, I’m planning to continue to buy the Chef V green juice to drink every morning and stick with my new healthy, daily habit. I feel so good starting the day off with green juice, I’m not ready to stop.

I learned about the Chef V cleanse from the Chef herself, Veronica Kress (formerly Wheat) when she started taking class at my studio a few months ago. She’s a beautiful, tall blond with a bar method body and a beautiful spirit to match. We were talking one day after class about the new year, resolutions and my upcoming photo shoot that I was preparing for when she mentioned her cleanse to me. I was elated! I knew I needed something to reset my body and prepare myself for the photo shoot but I wasn’t sure what I was going to do. She told me about her book “Making cleansing easier” and how she believes every person deserves a healthy body and healthy life. I couldn’t agree more!
5-day-juice-cleanseVeronica has always been passionate about cooking, nutrition, fitness (she’s a certified yoga instructor too) and most importantly educating others about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Fortunately, her husband asked her one day “if you could do anything without worrying about money, what would you do?” Without hesitation, Veronica responded with “I would cook! Hands down!” and the rest is history. She cancelled her plans to go to graduate school and instead started creating and delivering healthy meals to customers weekly here in San Diego. Each delivery included one of her special organic green drinks, which turned into the star of the show. Before she knew it, her green juice was in high demand and she as on the brink of a booming business. She eventually stopped making meals and focused entirely on perfecting her green drink and getting it in the hands of every person possible. Today she’s built a certified organic brand of juices and cleanses, where everything they produce is made using locally grown organic produce and organic ingredients.

    1. Hi Mihaela,
Yes! That’s what my body did! I ate dairy and gluten the next day and I felt like crap! I’ve now eliminated those two foods to begin to investigate where my food sensitivity is so I can feel good every day! Even though I love me some bread and cheese…It’s just not worth it anymore.
